Specialist Short Stay Visa

Subclass: 400

Overview:

This temporary visa for applicants working within a highly specialised field will skills, knowledge or experience that is not generally available within Australia.

Basic Eligibility:

  • Work in a highly specialised job
  • Work or activity must not be ongoing
  • Be able to support yourself and any dependents
  • Meet health and character requirements
  • Applicants are not already within Australia

Detail:

Successful applicants under this visa can live and work within Australia usually for a period of up to 3 months.  Depending upon circumstances and in the instance of a strong business case, visas may be granted for up to 6 months.  Visa holders in this class cannot apply from within Australia or stay longer by extending.

 

Working Holiday Visas & Work and Holiday Visas

Subclasses: 417 and 462

Overview:

Young adults wishing to take an extended holiday to Australia and work during their time here to fund their travels, may apply under a Working Holiday Visa.

Basic Eligibility:

  • Be aged 18 – 30 (inclusive) – note Canadian, French and Irish citizens may be up to 35
  • Must have a passport from an eligible country or jurisdiction
  • Must not be accompanied by dependent children
  • Meet health and character requirements

Detail:

Successful applicants under this visa do short-term work within Australia to pay for their holiday.  You will be required to do mandated months of specific work should you wish to apply for more than one Working Holiday Visa and other conditions relating to study and employment timeframes apply.

 

Occupational Training Visas

Subclass: 407

Overview:

An Occupational Training Visa (subclass 407) will all you to take place in workplace based occupational training to improve your skills for work, study or professional development purposes.

Basic Eligibility:

  • Have an occupation training program you wish to participate in
  • Have an approved sponsor
  • Meet health and character requirements
  • Have adequate health insurance
  • Have a functional standard of English

Detail:

This is a temporary visa.  This can be granted for a visa stay in Australia for up to 2 years. You can leave and re-enter Australia on the visa while it is valid.
